Coursera for UC San Diego
Coursera for UC San Diego offers students, faculty and staff free access to UC San Diego courses and specializations on Coursera.
UC San Diego’s Coursera courses are developed and taught by UC San Diego faculty and staff with online learning in mind. Learners engage in digital course material from anywhere and at anytime.
Enroll in as many courses as you want and earn Coursera certificates for free.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Go to Coursera for UC San Diego.
- Click Join for Free.
- Click Log In With UC San Diego.
- From the drop-down menu, students select Student SSO; faculty and staff select Business SSO.
- Enter your UC San Diego SSO credentials. Click Sign On.
- If this is your first time, you may need to verify your email address by clicking Send Verification. Or you will see an invitation to join. Click Join the Program.
- Click the Course you'd like to enroll in.*
- Click Start and Go to Course.
*You can enroll in as many courses as you'd like, and be enrolled in multiple courses at the same time.
UC San Diego's Coursera courses are not official credit-bearing courses for UC San Diego, but rather are courses created by UC San Diego faculty in which you can earn a Coursera certificate. To learn more about Coursera certificates, please see
Coursera’s page on Course Certificates. Coursera certificates do not represent university credit or continuing education units from UC San Diego and do not come with a UC San Diego transcript.
UC San Diego alumni are not currently elegible for
Coursera for UC San Diego free certificate program; however, alumni can enroll in UC San Diego's Coursera courses through the
main Coursera website.
Coursera for UC San Diego gives free access to Coursera courses that you would have to pay for if you accessed the course through the main Coursera website. The course experience is the same if you sign up for a course through Coursera for UC San Diego or the main Coursera website. While most courses offered through the main Coursera website have a free audit option, learners who audit a course will not be able to earn a Coursera certificate and may not earn grades on assignments or have access to certain course elements.
